FAS announced decision to fine Apple for antitrust law violations

On 19 July 2022, the Russian Federal Anti-Monopoly Service (FAS) announced that it has concluded its investigation into Apple and determined that the company abused its dominant position in the iOS applications distribution market. The FAS noted that Apple abused its dominant market position by not letting app developers inform users about alternative payment methods or payments outside the Apple store. Furthermore, FAS stated that Apple's current practice of requiring app developers to pay a commission fee between 15% and 30% for every payment in the App Store is negatively affecting competition and is thereby violating clause 3 of Article 10 of the Law on the Protection of Competition. The amount of the fine will be determined following an administrative investigation.
