On 23 August 2022, the California Privacy Protection Agency (CPPA) closed the consultation on its proposals for a revised version of the California Privacy Rights Act Regulations (CPRA Regulations). The Regulations provide clarifications regarding the notices and information that data collectors and processors have to provide consumers and outline rules to facilitate the submission of user requests to opt out of data sale or sharing. Furthermore, the Regulations include rules simplifying the process for consumers to request access, delete or correct their data. Finally, the Regulations specify that data processors providing "cross-context behavioral advertising" are considered third parties, therefore their exchange of personal information with service providers is subject to the user right to opt out. The entities collecting and transferring data will have to forward any user request to delete, correct, or store any information to such processors.
