Roskomnadzor drew up an additional administrative protocol against Google regarding illegal content on Ukraine conflict

On 22 June 2022, Russian media regulator Roskomnadzor announced that it has drawn up an additional administrative protocol against Google LLC for continuously displaying illegal content regarding the events in Ukraine on the Youtube platform Google owns (under Part 5 of Art. 13.41 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). Specifically, Youtube is accused of showing content that discredits the Russian army, displays extremist views of terrorist organizations and shows tutorials on bomb-making, as well as content that hurts the health and wellbeing of minors. The fine can amount to between 5 and 10% of the annual turnover rate of Google in Russia and will be decided by a court ruling.
