Roskomnadzor sends letter to Google regarding search access restrictions

On 5 April 2022, the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media of Russia, Roskomnadzor, sent a letter to Google demanding to remove restrictions on the search results imposed by the company on the Russian government agencies' official websites. Roskomdadzor claims Google excluded the websites of the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Internal Affairs from the search results within the country. Moreover, Roskomnadzor stated that Google's alleged actions represent a violation of unrestricted access to information and demanded the company provide explanations for imposing such restrictions.
