Roskomnadzor sends letter to Russian Wikipedia demanding to remove content related to Russian operation in Ukraine classified as false
On 1 March 2022, the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media (Roskomnadzor) notified Wikipedia that it is presenting “false information” on one of its pages. Roskomnadzor noted that according to the request it has received from the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation No. 27-31-2022 on 27 February 2022, the information regarding the operation in Ukraine is inaccurate and demanded to be rectified or taken down. Furthermore, Roskomnadzor stated that it will restrict access to the page if Wikipedia doesn’t comply with the order.
