Competition Bureau imposes penalties on the online travel agency FlightHub for misleading consumers

On 24 February 2021, the Competition Bureau Canada concluded its investigation into FlightHub Group and imposed a fine of CAD 5.8 million over the company’s deceptive practices. The Bureau started its investigation in November 2018 and found that the company that operates flighthub.com and justfly.com misled consumers about its services and practices by applying hidden fees and posting false online reviews. The Competition Bureau found the FlightHub Group in violation of the Competition Act which prohibits businesses to make false and misleading claims in regards to their services and products. In addition to the penalties imposed on the FlightHub Group, the two company directors will have to pay an additional fine of CAD 400’000.
