Published UK AI Barometer 2021

On 17 December 2021, the Centre for Data Ethics and Innovation, which operates within the UK Government, published the AI Barometer 2021. The report presents an analysis of the opportunities, risks and challenges associated with AI and data use in the UK. The report analyses the opportunities of AI in various sectors. It further ranks the major risks associated with AI, including algorithmic decision-making biases, failure of consent mechanisms introduced by data protection regulation, opacity of AI systems and low accuracy of data-driven tools. Finally, the report reveals that businesses would like further legal guidance on data collection, use and sharing and the interpretation of public regulation.
