Investigation launched into Apple and Amazon for an anti-competitive agreement

On 22 July 2020, the Italian Competition Authority launched an investigation into Apple and Amazon allegedly restricting competition. Specifically, Apple and Amazon limited resellers of "authentic" Apple and Beats products' from accessing the Amazon.it marketplace. If proven, the discrimination of chosen individual subjects represents a violation of Article 101 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU). Inspections at the offices of Amazon and Apple will now be conducted throughout Italy.
