Description

Consultation period regarding the initiative on adapting liability rules to the digital age and circular economy closes

On 10 January 2021, the public consultation on adapting the civil liability rules for the digital age closed. The initiative addresses the challenges previously identified in the White Paper on AI and the Report on Liability for AI, IoT, and Robotics and is part of the European Commission’s plan to modernize European Union regulations for the digital age. The stakeholders submitted their recommendations on how the limits of the Directive 85/374/EEC on Product Liability and national liability rules could be addressed. The framework should lead to legal certainty, limit damages and in the case of damages, secure compensation for damaged parties.
